Meet the members of the AIS™ Executive Team.
Chief Executive Officer
Simon Castellanos joined AIS™ as its Chief Executive Officer in November 2016. Simon brings over 18 years of healthcare experience having served in a wide variety of executive roles both in Finance and Operations. Most recently, Simon was the CEO of Western Dental, Inc. in Orange, CA, a dental service organization with over 200 centers throughout the west coast.
Previously, Simon worked for Fresenius Medical Care, where he held several executive roles including President of Fresenius Medical Services, providing dialysis services to over 160,000 patients through a network of 2,100 dialysis centers, 550 home programs and over 1,100 hospital acute programs. Prior to joining Fresenius, Simon was employed by Gambro Healthcare International LLC (now Diaverum), in Lakewood, CO. At Gambro, Simon held various finance positions including Chief Financial Officer of its International Division. Simon's international experience included responsibility for all financial and analytical activity for the divisions mergers and acquisitions, and SEC filings with Arcadis, NV, in the Netherlands.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College in New York.
Charles (Chuck) R. Bell, Jr., PharmD, RPh
President and Founder
Chuck Bell, the Founder of AIS™, serves as President of the company. Chuck got his start in the Home Infusion industry back in 1992 and since that time, has been involved in pharmacy and healthcare senior management and ownership, which includes owning multiple home infusion pharmacies as well as other healthcare related businesses.
Chuck received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and his Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Arkansas. He is licensed in multiple states and has over 20 years of pharmacy experience. Chuck also is actively involved with various industry and community committees and boards.
Chief Financial Officer
David joined the AIS Team in 2013, bringing an extensive resume which is highlighted by ever-expanding roles and responsibilities. During his 30-year career, David has held key management positions with a variety of companies that span the Healthcare, Life Sciences, Telecommunications and Public Accounting industries. He has led a number of IPOs and has participated in over 30 merger and acquisition transactions as well as related post-transaction integrations, debt restructurings, recapitalizations and secondary/add-on equity offerings.
David has played an instrumental role in building the finance and accounting infrastructure of several organizations from the ground up. This includes staffing, developing and implementing the control environment, reporting and technology.
C. Elizabeth O'Keeffe, JD, MPH, LLM, CHC, CHSP
Chief Compliance Officer
Elizabeth directs AIS's corporate compliance and regulatory efforts, including the establishment and monitoring of the company's compliance program. Prior to joining AIS, she served as an Associate General Counsel at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she handled all legal matters, including privacy and security, provider and medical staff issues, regulatory matters and compliance. She also has held influential positions at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital.
Elizabeth graduated Magna Cum Laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, with an emphasis on Healthcare law. She has a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, School of Public Health, is certified in healthcare compliance by the Healthcare Compliance Association and is certified in privacy by The American Health Information Management Association. She also is a member of the Tennessee and Mississippi Bars and remains active in her professional community.
Beat (pronounced "Ba-yot") Rychener
Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer
Beat's 25 years of experience is primarily in healthcare, however he has extensive expertise in the development, support and management of highly scalable operational infrastructures across a variety of industries. Prior to joining AIS in July 2013, he led two custom ERP software projects, one for SurePoint Medical in Kansas City and the other for McClinton Energy Group in Texas. As Vice President of IT at CCS Medical, Beat managed the IT infrastructure, including development and technical support of all computer, database and telecommunication systems and the design and implementation of multiple components of a custom in-house healthcare ERP/CRM system. He also has led and supported several mergers and acquisitions and subsequent infrastructure integrations.
Beat holds a teaching degree from the Federal Teaching College in Bern, Switzerland, a diploma in Computer Science from Systor Institute for Computer Science and a diploma in English Studies from Cambridge University.
EVP of Marketing and Sales
Vice President of Human Resources
Julia is an accomplished, hands-on professional with over 20 years of human resources management experience in the field of healthcare. Her broad range of experience includes talent management, onboarding, benefit and compensation administration, policy and procedure development and employee relations. In her role as Vice President of Human Resources for AIS, Julia is a strong business advisor for managers and an avid employee advocate.
Julia has held human resource leadership positions for hospitals in Florida, Tennessee and Arizona. She earned a BS in Business Administration and an MBA in Business Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1998, she received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification and has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 2010. Julia also is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as well as the local SHRM organization.
Vice President of Operations
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Michael serves as Vice President of Operations at AIS. As an original team member of Bond Pharmacy Inc., the predecessor to AIS which was founded in 1998 as a specialty pharmacy, Michael worked as a pharmacy technician. He transitioned with the AIS founders in 2008 as the company added Intrathecal PainCare™ and Home Infusion to its product line.
From 2008-2013, Michael served as the Director of Operations at AIS. His responsibilities included leading the day-to-day pharmacy operations and managing the company's information systems. Michael continues to support the company by directing special projects. In fact, he played an integral part in designing AIS's current state-of-the-art cleanroom. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Mississippi College.
Koshy Mathew, PharmD, RPh
Vice President of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge
Koshy is AIS's Vice President of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge. He has over 20 years of healthcare experience in various pharmacy operations, as well as pharmacy and physician practice startups in various healthcare settings, and currently is licensed in multiple states as a registered pharmacist. His career experience includes serving as Vice President of Operations and Clinical Services at Alliance Medical Group and as Director of Pharmacy for Sterile Preparations and Pediatric Pharmacy Services at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He also served as Pharmacy Director for Option Care Infusion Services in Illinois.
Koshy received his PharmD from the University of Illinois in Chicago and his MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He is a former Joint Commission surveyor with expertise in various areas of accreditation and best practices in healthcare, and he has extensive experience working with federal and state regulations and compliance domains.
Vice President of Financial Services
Patty has been in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years and brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as Vice President of Financial Services at AIS. She has led AIS's Financial Services Department since the company's inception in 2008. Her extensive knowledge of verification of benefits, billing, collections, problem solving skills, software implementation, revenue management, and overall management skills, is what enabled her to rise quickly through the management ranks at AIS to her current position.
Prior to joining AIS, Patty spent over 13 years at Vital Care's corporate office where she served in a variety of roles and had multiple responsibilities within the company's Financial Services Department.
Chief Nursing Officer
Pam, a Registered Nurse and Healthcare Professional with experience in hospital, home care and specialty pharmacy settings, serves as Chief Nursing Officer at AIS. Pam came to AIS from Ashfield Healthcare. As Vice President of Clinical Operations, her primary focus was the launch and execution of multiple national clinical programs. Her more than 30 years of diverse experience includes roles as National Leader of the UCB Immunology Nurse Team and Associate Director of Immunology Marketing; Senior Product Brand Manager for Schering-Plough (MERCK); and General Manager and Senior Director of Clinical Marketing for Option Care.
Pam also has held national leadership roles, developing and launching innovative clinically based programs focused on patient adherence and persistency. She has a BA in Business Administration and Marketing from Columbia College, an MBA from William Woods University and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
